For the purposes of this Fund, we are interested in two main areas: staffing solutions and apprenticeship programs.
Sydney Capital is exploring and developing relationships and strategic partnerships with community agencies, groups, companies and schools to create avenues for both short-term and long-range workforce development opportunities.
Staffing Solutions:
An important component of workforce development is not just in providing training to prospects in various industries (i.e., construction, HVAC, electrical, etc.). There are a number of training programs that provide the necessary skills to equip members of the labor pool. The gap lies in identifying those who have been trained and connecting them with employment opportunities so that they can move into the next phase and enter the workforce. Gainful employment is always the ultimate goal of workforce development programs, and through a partnership with SSS-LLC.
Apprenticeship Program:
Through a partnership with George Fikes LLC, Sydney Capital’s Fund III addresses issues of long-term workforce development needs through support of the George Fikes Apprenticeship & Applied Learning Program. Through this initiative, George Fikes LLC provides opportunities for students in high school and college to receive training and hands-on applied learning opportunities within the construction industry.
Students will be selected based on a combination of recommendations, program partnerships, areas of interest and availability. The goal of the Program is to provide students with opportunities to work with experienced professionals to learn the nuances and day to day requirements of the industry. Students will gain invaluable experience in all facets of project planning and implementation that will give them an advantage in the development of leadership, planning and project management skills.
